Desperate For Entertainment

by Michael Marrotti

It must be bad

if you're reading

this poem

I can only imagine

how disappointing

Netflix is right now

and how that penis

or pussy

just won't suffice

So here you are

options all depleted

lowering your standards

for what a miniscule

amount of people

still consider to be

You must want

a clever poem

about some

familiar subject

maybe a cure

for your head

or poetic masturbation

Well I'll tell you what

there's a devastating

drought here in

My dealer is out

of sustenance

no Wi-Fi connection

I've been stalking

her residence

the future is bleak

her house is vacant

Needless to say

I'm an emotional wreck

my mental health

is fleeting

has prevailed

I'm no fan

of feeling these feelings

So you want

a witty poem

lemme guess

it has to have

a punch line

at the ending

you need joy

you need happiness

you need to feel

pleasant feelings

The barbarian

inside of me

I have a tendency

to suppress

has two Converse All-Stars

inside the door

Show me

your fucking face

I'll give you

that punch line

of an ending

Michael Marrotti is an author from Pittsburgh, using words instead of violence to mitigate the suffering of life in a callous world of redundancy. His primary goal is to help other people. He considers poetry to be a form of philanthropy. When he's not writing, he's volunteering at the Light of Life homeless shelter on a weekly basis. If you appreciate the man's work, please check out his book, F.D.A. Approved Poetry, available at Amazon.
