by Rachel Doherty
My mangled figure, frozen mid-motion
Cut down, run over
Entrails exposed for all to see
Did they even feel me being crushed under that
They opted for the smoother ride. . . .
An advanced suspension package
So probably not
Rigor mortis has set in
The mission that brought me out here forever postponed
For myself or for my babies?
Nobody cares about the why
They just opine:
“That’s the risk you take when you
put yourself out there.”
