when it comes round

by Meg Baird

because I don’t have the poetic strength of

and I’m not in the same time as

I still get it

my abstract soul and love made words

the subtext understood that gives way

the host a flesh temple

will I ever make friends

with a crazy old lady again

not even old

just verging when I wasn’t afraid

Meg Baird can be found in the ezine archives of Yellow MamaAnemone SidecarOpen Heart ForgeryApollo's Lyre, and Prachya Review, as well as the paper publications FluidityCV2: Poetry OnlyExpressions, and Fourth Floor Images.
