Sea World

by Robert Halleck

Della's grandchildren are asleep now. Two

of them are visiting. We have been

to visit Sea World, San Diego Zoo,

other places she hasn't been to in years.

She tells me they were her daughter's childhood

favorites. The grandchildren have inherited

Della's joy, her eyes, smile, nothing from me,

a sunset man, except the love we have for this

woman lying next to me who senses my stirring,

reaches over, whispers she has put on some gel.

Robert Halleck is a retired banker living in Del Mar, California with his muse, Della Janis. He has been writing poetry since 1958. Poetry is more than a hobby but it does not crowd out other activities such as golf, autocross racing, and caregiving through Stephen Ministries. His poetry has appeared in Chiron, Yellow Mama, Third Wednesday, and Main Street Rag. He is a member of San Diego's Not Dead Yet Poets and hopes to continue as a member for a long time.

KJ Hannah Greenberg captures the world in words and images. Her latest photography portfolio is 20/20: KJ Hannah Greenberg Eye on Israel. Her most recent poetry collection is Mothers Ought to Utter Only Niceties (Unbound CONTENT, 2017). Her most recent fiction collection is the omnibus, Concatenation (Bards & Sages Publishing, 2018).

Recently, Hannah’s seventh short story collection was published by Bards and Sages Publishing.

The publisher writes: "Bards and Sages Publishing is pleased to bring readers Walnut Street, our seventh short story collection by KJ Hannah Greenberg. Greenberg’s flair for the peculiar and eclectic shines through in this collection of over fifty flash and short fiction works featuring anthropomorphic starship pilots, angsty authors, strange neighbors, and more."
