The girl with flaxen hair
took a knife and carved
across distant hills:
Naïve in this respect
left me seated with devils
her knife gouged twisted
from the wood.
just had to swallow
a pint of stale music
to consume everything.
carved one-legged seagulls
darkened railway track.
John Short spent a long time in southern Europe
variety of jobs and now lives and writes in Liverpool. His poems and stories
have appeared in many magazines in Spain, France, the UK, Ireland and the USA,
such as Barcelona Ink, The French Literary Review, Prole, The
Blue Nib, and Rat’s Ass Review. When not writing he enjoys
cycling, real ale and Greek music.
Marie Rhiel is
the Assistant Art Director for Yellow Mama Webzine. She was
born and raised in Bronx, New York, presently living in New Jersey. She
reconnected with her passion for art in 2016 and has
had her work exhibited in art galleries around northern New Jersey ever
since. She is a commissioned painting artist,
who also enjoys photography. Her work has also appeared in
Black Petals and Megazine Official.
