Pathway Down

Kenneth Vincent Walker

But has anyone truly slept in

Sleeping death and returned

To profess their gruesome tale

Walking among the unwitting

Living knowing of a pathway

Down a dimly dampened trail?

When defibrillators shock the

Heart before the brainwaves

Are set in slow-motion to derail,

And the light funneled back

To darkness into a black hole

In a hidden mysterious veil.

Intensely permanent are its

Effects as life beckons us in,

Then subsequently exhales.

Life is well worth each second

We're in it. So let us spend it

Splendidly, enthusiastically with

An immense attention to detail.
