Bindi Lavelle: Specimen

Specimen

By Bindi Lavelle

Cold sting of metal

Beneath the body

A shock to the skin

Waking the specimen

The heart beat increases

And breaths shorten

The familiar thrashing

When fear surges adrenalin

Blood pumping and eyes wide

The specimen tries to scream

The only expression they have

Disbelief as the tests continue

While the specimen has no lies

To soothe themselves with.
