Night

the night has no windows—
the lime kiln is creeping
over the hill as
unspeakable acts
are being committed
in the woods, where
the dirty magazines
are hidden—
the hoot owl sees all,
the mantis prays;
jeweled eyes and claws—
a lonely man-
in-the-moon,
a carnival sky—
a meteor from the Oort Belt
an alien visitor to the
night's
ho-hum.
