The Precipice
Bianca Alu-Marr
Little
things,
all the little things,
Gathering like soldiers at dusk
lined
up in the midst,
Hearing the howls of enemies
smelling a foul decay
hearts
pounding in chests
sweat,
traces of spirits and death
inhale
destiny like breath.
This
life is a coin flipping and spinning,
light…dark…light…dark
crazy…sane…crazy…sane…
where will it land?
What
boney fist will emerge to grip
your face and squeeze
until your cheekbones crush?
Or
will you bathe in salt and
cleansing dust and
shatter evil to the wind
in just your skin?
It’s
dichotomy,
it’s
the fiber of the stars
it’s a chill laced with fire,
unknown
together, alone
the precipice….
