Dark
Times
by Luis Cuauhtemoc Berriozabal
What do you know
of dark times,
night terror
dreams
twisting your
mind? Your child’s
mind,
an open
wound. Death
leaves its
mark on you.
Faith leaves your
thoughts
in limbo.
No amount of
pills or
drugs
is enough. You
know nothing.
Before you is
love absent.
You are drowning.
What words bring
you safety? You
know well that
nothing helps,
that
nothing works.
Knowing you live
in fear, all
you taste is sour.
The dark times
can overwhelm.
