Slither Away
Kenneth
Vincent Walker
To walk amongst
Snakes you must
Tread lightly with
Shallow breaths,
Slowly measured
Movements ever
So gentle a step.
A snake can taste
Your fear through
Vibrations
acutely.
The snake slithers
Into the grass
then
Disappears
quietly;
Yet is dangerously
Toxic, venomous,
Insatiably hungry
Without
conscience.
