Would ya look at that old guy? Yes, friends and neighbors, that's me, doing my American Legion thing at a recent ceremony here in Wichita. We had just fired the salutes and taps was being played. You can't really see them in the picture, but I'm wearing my first-ever set of hearing aids. Wish I'd gotten them sooner. Made the wife happy not to have to be my hearing aid any more...
Well, constant readers, we have a great lineup again this time around. Our lead-off this time is another great story from the late Mark Jabaut, who was a very talented writer and a great loss to the literary community when he passed. In addition we have a very strange tale by Scáth Beorh, an old-timer who used to publish in BP and recently sent us some new material. Another of those deals like, "Where the hell you been, man?"
Roy Dorman, Hillary Lyon and Bruce Costello are back and then there are some new names, too. Mauri Orr Stone brings us "The Wolves are Coming", a chilling tale of a future, or maybe alternate society that's definitely in trouble.
We went a little heavy in flash fiction this time with six tales, but some of this stuff I get is just too good to pass up.
My friend and fellow editor, Cindy Rosmus from Yellow Mama is back with a rerun of her flash story, "The Cookie Crumbles."
Another old-timer is in the poetry section. Joe Danoski used to submit material way back when BP was a print mag and he recently showed up to give us some good stuff.
I think this is gonna be a good issue to get you in the mood for Halloween, so I won't keep ya any longer. Go get 'em! Thanks for reading...
