Paranormal Portions (A Senryu Sequence)

by John H. Dromey

tame tastes or wild ones

things that go bump in the night

have an appetite

specters thrive on fear

leave you shaking in your boots

ghouls prefer raw meat

ghosts shun solid food

avoid empty calories

don’t want to gain weight

noisy poltergeists

do not follow recipes

rattle pots and pans

gremlins don’t swallow

bite off more than they can chew

like to wreak havoc

no more finger food

altered-state werewolf eats what

it gets its paws on

prey chased by big feet

abominable snowman’s

abdominal treat

fire breathing dragons

succeed in roasting some meals

burn most to a crisp

some creatures are gross

open-mouth-chewing zombies

or vampires that slurp

some gorge and some skimp

Krakens are omnivorous

mermaids prefer shrimp
