Nocturnal
Mode
Kenneth Vincent Walker
Simply, I come alive not 'till
After the sun goes down.
Nighttime—my feline friend,
How I love the silent sound
Of her stalking stealthiness.
Stylishly she wears it well.
Dressed sleekly to the nines.
The cat's meow—I contend
Contains a few more lives.
Well, as best as I can tell.
As a cat prowls the streets
Looking for movement to
Which the darkness lends
A helping or two of food.
The beast is craving meat
Again as darkness shares
Its bloody nectar, its moody
Interlude unrivaled onto the
Dance for sheer survival
Cloaked in nocturnal mode.
