C. Renee Kiser: Gold Star

Gold Star

C. Renee Kiser

Body bags outline my heart

There's a warrant out for my arrest

I have an illegal amount of comatose glow--

Death says it's quite impressed

“Ohhh baby, you got what I need.”

Is that right, sweetie pie?

Keep your gun loaded

as

I

Will

Come

Closer

I pray that you are a fast learner,

oh, my love, stand right there

on the edge

of that cliff

I just want to admire you

sketched into the sky

Good job

C. Renee Kiser’s poetry is quirky and armed with bold confessional dynamite. Her humor is confrontational, often abrupt, and always unsettling.
