I
Die, You Die
Joseph
V. Danoski
My shadow you see, has a mind of its own,
And it’s hard to believe how much it’s grown;
Taking off from me down the autumn street,
And running away on its stalking feet.
It wants to take credit for the things I’ve
done,
And have its name on the trophies I won.
Lately it’s growing and gaining control;
All these late hours are taking their toll.
The more that you live, the more that I die;
If I am the truth, then you are the lie.
But for now we’ll let those sleeping dogs lie;
Just remember my friend--I die, you die.
Life is a battle between shadow and light,
And my world is a dead and empty night.
It all began with an innocent game;
A little spark that ignited a flame.
It was born from my dark and serious side;
The mysterious twin I have to hide.
When the night descends and the dark is deep,
Another crime spree and the time to creep.
The more that I live, the more that you die;
If you are the truth, then I am the lie.
But for now we’ll let those sleeping dogs lie;
Just remember my friend--I die, you die.
