BLACK NIGHT

Stephanie Smith

angels rip through the atmosphere

deadly kisses on virgins’ lips

ebon wings sting like lusty death

the foul breath of poetry

the prisoners of night’s parade

seek pity on their hellbound souls

for wasn’t it on a night like this

the gates of heaven crashed closed?

Stephanie Smith's poetry and fiction has appeared in issues of The Horror Zine, Carnage House, Aphelion, Raven Cage, The Literary Hatchet, Illumen, and elsewhere. She lives just outside of Scranton, Pennsylvania with her partner and their feline companion named Sam.
