Another
Red Nightmare
Kenneth
Vincent Walker
Trembling like
a leaf upon a
Crisp wispy limb,
threatening
Our comfort zone
prompting
The red nightmares
to begin.
Heart palpitations
in a cold
Steel-gray clammy
sweat,
Scurrying off our
limp body,
Our forehead's
soaking wet.
Our teeth begin
to chatter as
Our creaking knees
begin to
Knock. So far from
joy and
Laughter our joints
interlock.
There is no bedside
manner
As the morphine
kicks in to
Banish me to another
place,
A realm I'd rather
not be in.
But at least the
pain has been
Diminished to a
level falling
Short of insufferable.
I'm on
The mend it would
seem, tho
At times it's been unbearable.
