Bake at 400 Degrees
Christopher
Hivner
Hansel wondered
if there was
something wrong with him
as he stared at
the oven.
It wasn’t on anymore,
not since he and
Gretel
tied up the witch,
but Hansel was
regretful.
He . . . wanted to
get into the oven,
feel the heat
sink into his
skin,
bathe in his own
juices.
He wanted to be
cooked
and served at a
dinner party
for his friends.
“Yes,” he thought,
“there is
something wrong with me,”
as he turned the
oven back on.
