The Pinups of the Afterlife
Meg Smith
In
your final bed,
the one with metal rails,
we
are watching
the
lives of
Bettie Page and Vampira,
and
a nurse may
smile when
passing
in the
hall.
I
have always held
you
in
the house of
singing mermaids,
in
our night's
whisper. I want and still
want
for you
always, a brightened heart,
with all nurtured, and laces
undone.
