The Man on the Mountain
On the Moon
Joseph Danoski
Time seems to slow
When gravity’s low,
For the man on the Mountain
On the moon.
There’s no more fun
And nowhere to run,
Amid the wreckage and debris.
He looks around
And begins to drown
In his sea of tranquility.
Out on these dunes
Hopelessly marooned,
Always driving himself insane.
Over and over,
A lost land rover
Over the unchanging terrain.
Freezing at night,
Then sweltering by noon,
Picking up pieces of his life
Upon the moon.
Water won’t flow
When gravity’s low,
For the man on the mountain
On the moon.
