Desperate For Entertainment

by Michael Marrotti

It must be bad

if you're reading

this poem

I can only imagine

how disappointing

Netflix is right now

and how that penis

or pussy

just won't suffice

So here you are

options all depleted

lowering your standards

for what a miniscule

amount of people

still consider to be

entertainment

You must want

a clever poem

about some

familiar subject

maybe a cure

for your head

or poetic masturbation

Well I'll tell you what

there's a devastating

drought here in

Pittsburgh

My dealer is out

of sustenance

no Wi-Fi connection

I've been stalking

her residence

the future is bleak

her house is vacant

Needless to say

I'm an emotional wreck

my mental health

is fleeting

apprehension

has prevailed

I'm no fan

of feeling these feelings

So you want

a witty poem

lemme guess

it has to have

a punch line

at the ending

you need joy

you need happiness

you need to feel

pleasant feelings

The barbarian

inside of me

I have a tendency

to suppress

has two Converse All-Stars

inside the door

Show me

your fucking face

I'll give you

that punch line

of an ending

Poetry in Need

by Michael Marrotti

I'm not

making

history

with this poem

I'm merely

making time

go by

a little bit

faster

Striving for

some type of

abstract euphoria

something to tide

me over

As I clean out

this straw for

particles of

nothingness

Which leaves

me and the reader

disappointed

Since one of the

main components

for inspiration

turned out to be

nothing but a taste

I can't be expected

to write an

entertaining poem

when I myself

am not enjoying

the benefits of

entertainment

So if you're

holding more

than socialist

literature

Send me a Gmail

I'll bring the razor

you could be

beneficial

to five or six

readers

One Man Can Only Take So Much

by Michael Marrotti

I've sacrificed

more than

you could

ponder

Dropped

my standards

from the peak

of the bridge

down to the

Allegheny River

over one

too many

personality

disorders

just to hold

your fragile hand

We fucked

in the strangest

places

I recollect

holding my breath

in the porta john

the end result

was dripping off

your pretty face

like milky tears

of a future mistake

From day to day

you were a

different person

the pussy always

remained the same

If I could pick

the one

I enjoyed most

I wouldn't

waste my time

Time is precious

now it's a thing

of the past

I'll never get

those days back

I've called it quits

Life is too short

to always feel

like a loser

One man

against

any army

doesn't

stand a chance

Boycott This Poem!

by Michael Marrotti

Boycott this poem

for its candid display

of words that infiltrate

your much-needed

safe space

Boycott this poem

for its recognition

of only two genders

I'm talking about

Adam and Eve

you assholes

Halloween is

a once a year

occasion

Boycott this poem

for verification of

the decline in poetry

the only people

reading this shit

are insomniacs

in need of a sleep aid

Boycott this poem

it's a product of

a white male

who doesn't subscribe

to what you say

most poets are

left-leaning hypocrites

who combat

misperceived fascism

with fascism

ANTIFA is a terrorist

organization

Boycott this poem

for pointing out

the obvious

there's plenty

of parallels

when it comes to

the Alt-right and

Nation of Islam

but you won't see

any stupid-ass

white people

attacking

Louis Farrakhan

In Loving Memory Of

by Michael Marrotti

I remember

you

before the

epilogue

the obituary

people dressed

in black

your final

appearance

I recall

a time when

promises

were made

to be kept

living was

ordinary

There was no

in loving memory of

in fact

to be frank

I never knew then

the precise date

of your birthday

You had a great

sense of humor

but strayed away

from ingenuity

We all thought

that after the death

of your brother

you would have

walked the other way

I miss you

but

you died

just like him

living life

in a stamp bag

and for that

you've become

just another cliché
