in the naked contours of darkness
i feel the delicate marigolds of her
soft touch, nosing out metaphors
in me, as the hours awaken and
deepen their meaning . . .  we are
safe here from yesterday, in the
warm syllables of this
gesturing evening, the moon is a
lilac looking down on us . . . as the
wind strokes the curtains alive, she
jiggles me through her quenchable
mind and i feel the sweet blade of
a pasha between her thoughts,
borne of wisdom, and between mine,
i pour into her my just blue
soul . . . and we are whole again, in
the strange illiterature of this room . . .

we are safe here from tomorrow

He was born in Chicago, but has lived in Florida since 1985. He has worked as patio furniture salesman, a dragger-of-tree-limbs-to-the-wood-chipper (no official job title), a weedeater mechanic and a shark-suit tester. In his spare time, he erects origami boulders by crumpling up his failed poems.
