Opened my eyes,

thankful for another day

in isolation

Make coffee,

turn on the news

to see people

not as fortunate as me.

Five o’clock hurry up

Off to the store,

to nothing but empty shelves.

A masked bandit in zombie land.

When I return, I think

Is this it?

Have to wait and see

in isolation

The Beauty of Trees

Another walk in the park

on a chilly Fall Day

Leaves dropping all around me

I can once again see the beauty of trees.

No longer hidden behind masks of green

many different personalities revealed.

Happy, sad, lonely, mad

Some dancing alone

Others hanging on by a limb.

Everyone standing together

United in their unique world

Until they fall.

Another Day

Tomorrow, a fresh start to think about starting things, another day.

Another day to punish myself for not being strong enough.

Another day to wonder, will I ever finish that painting?

Another day to remember that life is about rolling with the punches.

And if you’re lucky, you’ll get a break between the rounds.

Another day.

Ann Marie Rhiel is the Assistant Art Director for Yellow Mama Webzine. She was born and raised in Bronx, New York, presently living in New Jersey. She reconnected with her passion for art in 2016 and has had her work exhibited in art galleries around northern New Jersey ever since.
